FAQ

What are the decals made of?

We use premium quality, thin self-adhesive vinyl with a matte finish for our wall decals. The matt finish of the vinyl gives the appearance that the decal is actually painted on the wall. The silver metallic and gold metallic decals have a slight sheen.

What surfaces can I apply my decals to?

Just about any smooth surface will be perfect, eg walls, laminated surfaces, mirrors, doors etc. For the window decals, please only use this on windows as it is a stronger adhesive (suitable for exteriors). The decals will not stick to bumpy surfaces eg bricks, textured paints, rendering and concrete. If you are unsure, please contact us for a sample to test on your surface.

How do I apply the decals?

All decals come with instructions (with pictures) and a tester to try out first.

What colours are available?

We have a selection of 28 colours, plus blackboard vinyl and frosted glass vinyl. Please note that the colour chart may appear different on your computer screen due to your computer settings. If you would like a sample swatch of a colour, please just contact us.

I’m not sure if the colour will match my décor, can you send me a sample/s?

Yes, most definitely. Please just contact us using the ‘Contact Us’ tab, or email jacki@walleffect.com.au

Are the decals removable?

Yes they are. The vinyl we use has been specifically engineered in Germany for wall (and other smooth surfaces) application. So there will be no sticky residue on removal.

Are the decals reusable?

No, they are not reusable.  They will still retain their 'stickiness', however, because the material is thin and the design is quite often detailed, the decals do not retain their shape once removed from the surface, and can tear.

Will the decals damage my painted surface?

With regard to painted surfaces, we advise to only apply the decals to surfaces:

    * that are in good condition (eg no peeling, cracked or flaking paint), and

    * where the surface has been prepared properly when painted (eg with proper use of undercoat and all dust/plaster dust/ grease removed prior to painting).

Basically, the paint must have a good bond with the surface. Applying to painted surfaces which are in poor condition or have not been prepared properly, may result in paint coming off upon removal of the decal.

Because we cannot be sure of the condition of the surface and if it has been prepared satisfactorily, we cannot accept any responsibility if the surface is damaged on removal. If you are concerned, please contact us for a test decal using the 'Contact Us' tab, or email jacki@walleffect.com.au.

I’ve just recently painted my wall, can I apply them now?

Just wait 3 weeks for the paint to cure, and then apply the decals.

Can I order a custom decal?

Yes. If you have a design in mind or a favourite saying, just use the ‘Custom Request’ tab and submit your details. Include as much information as you can about your request, including size, colour etc. We will be in contact.

How can I pay?

You can pay by direct bank deposit, Paypal or with your Visa or Mastercard (through the Paypal platform - no Paypal account is required).
